Fall Blogger's Quilt Festival

Thank you, Amy, for hosting this quilt festival! It's so much fun to click through all of the links for great quilting inspiration!

Here's my favorite quilt:
This is really one of my first quilts to make, and I believe the first one I ever finished. It is 100% my style, especially the fabrics.
The last quilt I finished is probably a close second on my favorite list, and I have another one that is in progress made from the scraps of these ones that I'm also excited about.

Finally Finished

I am so happy with this quilt. Not sure who it is going to (for sure) right now, have to ask my brother what he wants. It fits a full bed pretty well. Here it is in all of its glory though:
It is a rainy day so the lighting is meh, but we will quickly get over that.

Almost There

My on-point quilt is almost done. All that is left is the binding. Here is it fully hand quilted:
The extra fabric on the edge is the backing/binding fabric

Leftovers-WIP

This is the last quilt I am working on. I am making it entirely of fabric I have left over from other quilts/projects. The only thing I will have to buy for this quilt is the batting. =). I am doing a modified mixtape for it and will be putting 3/4 inch strips of white between each of them. I have no idea what I will do with this quilt when I'm done with it, but I'm sure I can easily find it a home. This is it in its very early stage on my bed (queen size). The finished size will likely be good for a twin bed or a couch. I plan on using the light purple for the boarder and backing, I think I have enough of it.

Amanda's Quilt

I have a couple of quilts that are WIP right now, this one is the farthest along of them. I plan on basting it today so I can start hand quilting it. This one is for a girl I know who really loved Sakura's and wanted one and I told her I'd make her one if she just paid for the fabric cause I can't afford to and it would have to be simple (read: squares/rectangles only) because I just can't spend the time on an elaborate quilt with all the ones I am making. I tend to spend about $50/quilt on materials. I pretty much always buy fabric on sale and I use cheaper batting. I pieced this one in a day and am really happy with how it came out as well as how easy it was. The fabric is from Joann's line and they all work really well. The white it a little bright, but it was what I had on hand and with there being two strips of it I think it works well. The fabric I'm using for the backing is the same pattern as the green, only in brown and really ties it all together in my opinion.
BTW Meet my new(ish) puppy: Zoe!

ps. I know my pictures are sad, but I'm using my point and shoot. I will use the Nikon D60/Canon whatever my dad has when they are done.

Long Time No Post

I know, I know, I haven't posted anything. I really like showing completed projects and well I really don't have any quite yet. I make bed quilts mostly, which are bigger and more time consuming than baby quilts. I don't know anyone who is having a baby though.

The last quilt I was working on when I disappeared is almost done, and its looking fantastic. My mom wanted a quilt to quilt while she was on a couple of trips this last month, so I let her go ahead and hand quilt it. I will have pictures of it when my mom gets back and after we have done the binding. For a reminder of which one I'm talking about:

The next quilt I started was for my friend Katie. We picked out the fabrics together and then I created a design. I'm not entirely happy with the overall look but I love the way the blocks themselves turned out. I am unsure about what fabric I am going to put on the back of it though. My initial thought was red with white polka dots since there is red in the flower patterned, but my mom wasn't to keen on the idea. I'm also thinking a dark brown or black or something to ground the colors a bit...but I'm afraid it could turn out quite tragic as well. Here are some pictures of it in its
current state:

Update

Okay I think about posting on here a lot, but I have nothing exciting to share. I have been playing a lot with my EQ6 (which I got for Christmas). I have also been working slowly on a few wip pieces and I started on a quilt for my friend, but I'm not sure I'm happy enough with it at this point to post pictures. All of my stuff went home with me over Easter break however, so I can't sew until I move back home in a month. I'm hoping to get a lot done over the summer, but that will depend on a bunch of things, namely how much I work and if I can register for summer classes.

I graduate in less than a month, although I dread these next 2 weeks which are full of presentations. I finally got my Aggie Ring this past Friday, exactly one month before my graduation day. I will be going for my Masters in Elementary Education this next school year in an exciting program called TRP with Texas State. It means I can live at home with my parents, which I think is awesome because that saves me a ton of money. I also have a part time job at home, and while totally unglamorous, I make more than I would with any other part time job that works with a school schedule. The only down side is I will be 2 hours away from my boyfriend, who will be staying here to get his PhD in Aerospace. I hope that once I finish the Masters program I can move back here for the 2010-2011 school year and find a job. *fingers crossed*

While most of this is off topic, I have been pretty busy this semester and sewing just hasn't had as big of a place in my life as I would like. Like I said, hopefully this summer will allow me more sewing time.

Update

I'm home for the holiday, which ends up being about 6 weeks for us! I will be working as much as I can to save up money, and also spending a lot of time with the family. I have some oil paints to finish up and other projects, so I'm not sure how much time I will have for quilts. I still have two works in progress, but none of them need to be complete by any date. We will see... In case I don't end up checking in, have a great holiday and even better new year everyone!

Snow

It has been snowing here all day. Here. College Station Texas. Real Snow. With no ice. Its some peoples first time to ever see snow. Whats even better? It was 70 degrees yesterday morning (humid and gross) and is supposed to get up to 60 degrees tomorrow. Don't believe me?

So far we have gotten two inches. We have been sitting between 30 and 34 all day, so the roads aren't iced over, thankfully. Not only did we get snow today, but my last final was today. Another semester complete!

Finals Week

So it's finals week here in Aggieland. I had my first one yesterday and have 2 on Tuesday and 1 on Wednesday. I've been slowly quilting a square at a time on Hip2B, and I'm loving how it looks. I really messed up on it though, and I'm embarrassed to say how. Its hardly noticeable but it has caused problems throughout the whole process. It's my own fault, and once I realized it I was too lazy to go back to fix it. I have no recipient for this quilt so I'm not motivated for it to be perfect or anything. I actually have no idea what I'm going to do with it when its done.

There is a fabric sale in my home town quilt shop this weekend, and I'm =( that I can't go to it. Finals get in the way of everything every year. Bloody nuisance. Okay back to studying my butt off.
